I constantly have ideas for creative photography. Whether it's wanting to try some new lighting technique or a specific theme I'm never short of ideas.
In addition, I work with a very talented hair and makeup artist who also has several ideas of photoshoots she'd like to do. Many of them including movie-style SFX.
What sort of models are you looking for?
I'm looking for models of all ages, ethnicities, sex, size and height!
Obviously, I cannot work with everyone however if your look does suit any of the ideas I have in mind, and if you are local, we can always arrange a test shoot!
I am looking for models to work with on commercial photography assignments, for example, lifestyle brand photography and fashion photography.
Which counties are you looking for models in?
As part of my road trip, I have identified 30 initial countries that I'd like to visit in the UK & Europe. It would be great to have options for models in each of these countries for any commercial photography assignments that may arise whilst I'm in any of these countries. The countries are:
England
Wales
Scotland
Northern Ireland
Ireland
Portugal
Spain
France
Switzerland
Italy
Croatia
Greece
Bulgaria
Romania
Hungary
Austria
Germany
Luxembourg
Belgium
Netherlands
Denmark
Sweden
Norway
Finland
Poland
Lithuania
Slovakia
Czechia
Latvia
Estonia
What is a test shoot?
A test shoot is basically a short 15 - 20-minute meeting where we have a quick chat to see why you're interested in working with me and what sort of shoots you would be interested in. This is then followed by a very brief photoshoot so I can get a feel for whether you take direction well and your 'acting' ability.
You said you're looking for models, not actors?!
Indeed. However, being a model isn't simply about 'striking a pose'.
For many of the ideas I have, the ability to show emotion is also important. Be this the ability to laugh out loud on cue, or express sorrow or sadness.
Do I need to have modelling experience?
No, not necessarily.
I'd be happy to consider you if you have a genuine interest in modelling and would like to start putting together a portfolio.
Having done hundreds of personal photography sets, I'm very comfortable directing you into poses etc. The only criteria is that you can take and follow direction and that the idea of being in front of a camera doesn't scare the bejeezus out of you!
I'm under 18, would you consider working with me?
Yes, absolutely.
However, you will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
I'd like to get my child into modelling, would you consider children?
Yes.
I do commercial photography for businesses so there is often the need to have models interacting with the brands' product. Often times needing a 'family' of models etc. So I would happily consider your child for a test shoot.
Do you pay me?
It depends!
For collaborations (also known as time for prints) no money is exchanged. Ie, you don't pay me for the photoshoot, and I don't pay you for the modelling. You will receive images in exchange for the time you donate.
For commissioned work, where the client photoshoot requires models, you will be paid! (no images will be provided in paid shoots)
How many images do you provide?
I provide 4 images PER hour of shooting time (two images for every 30 minutes) on collaboration shoots. No images are provided when you are being paid as part of a commercial photoshoot.
Do I get to choose which images I want?
Yes absolutely. After the shoot, I will make the images available online (generally via DropBox) where you will then be able to choose the images you want.
Do you edit the images?
Absolutely. All images will be professionally edited so that they can be used in your portfolio.
How can I use the images?
The images are provided to you with a personal use licence.
This means that you can post the images to social media. Use them in your portfolio. Make prints etc.
How do you use the images?
I use the images for social media posts. My portfolio. Stock image sites. My website.
Who owns the images?
Current UK law states that the copyright holder is the person who takes the image. Therefore I own the images.
Are there any restrictions on my use of the images?
Yes.
You cannot sell the images.
You cannot tag or mention brands in the images.
You are not permitted to use the images of subscription sites (where members have to pay you to access the content)
You cannot use the images for advertising/commercial purposes.
The images are not to be edited when posted online. This includes cropping, applying a filter, adding text etc.
You need to credit (link) me when posting the images online. (this works both ways and I'll happily credit/tag you when posting to social media.
Do I need to sign anything?
Yes. You will need to sign a standard photography model release. If you've ever paid or had a photoshoot before, you will be familiar with this form.
